Biography
Richard Holmes received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Dayton in 1984 and his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University in 1987. Mr. Holmes is currently licensed to practice law in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Wyoming. In addition, Mr. Holmes has been admitted in multiple Federal Court jurisdictions and more than six state trial courts as special or pro hac vice counsel to attorneys.
Mr. Holmes' primary are of practice is the representation of parties involved in catastrophic injury or wrongful death accidents throughout the United States and Eastern Canada, with an emphasis on commercial motor vehicle transportation cases. He has successfully tried multiple heavy trucking catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases across the United States. Mr. Holmes has an extensive history of working on behalf of individuals and corporations with United States Governmental entities, including:
- Department of Transportation
- Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
- Department of Homeland Security
Mr. Holmes is rated A.V. or preeminent by his peers as an attorney per the renowned Martindale-Hubbell publication. Mr. Holmes served for several years on the Council of Negligence Section for the State Bar of Michigan and co-authored A Practice Guide to Depositions in Michigan, published by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is a frequent lecturer on the representation of parties in transportation claims, commercial transportation safety, state, and federal regulatory compliance in the United States and Canada, as well as trail tactics.
