Taking Your Car Accident Seriously

Your life changed the day of your car accident, leaving you with medical bills, property damage and an uncertain future due to your injury. Whether someone else’s negligence caused the accident or you stand accused of negligence, you deserve an attorney who will fight for your legal rights.

At Holmes & Wiseley, P.C., we understand how distressing car accidents can be. Our attorneys have over 80 years of combined legal experience, helping clients understand their legal rights and fighting to protect those rights, whether as a plaintiff or a defendant. Your auto accident case will have the full attention of a managing partner from start to finish.

Michigan’s Unique Insurance Laws

Michigan has a unique law when it comes to car accidents, unlike any other in the nation. Our laws require no-fault insurance coverage, which means that when you are in an accident, your own insurance company pays for any basic costs, regardless of who caused the accident. These payments include basic costs such as:

  • Medical expenses for your injuries
  • A partial payment of lost wages for up to three years
  • Repairs for damage to other people’s property, but does not include repairs for damage to other cars

This law does not include repairs to your car. Your collision and comprehensive insurance pays for any damages to your car, depending on the type of coverage you have.

This law has many benefits for Michigan residents because we pay higher insurance rates than other states. When you have an auto accident, you know your insurance will cover many of the costs associated with that accident. It even protects you from some lawsuits if another driver sues you. We are happy to go over your insurance coverage with you for free to discuss how your accident is covered.
